My friend told me about Shanty Creek.  When I arrived I enjoyed the programs.  Going off site to connect with country was good.  Enjoyed going out shopping to different places.

I felt supported by staff and worked on managing my feelings in a positive way.  I would tell people about Shanty Creek that it is a good place to come to.  To keep working on yourself.  I am now looking forward to getting my own house, studying and working again and staying well in the community.  I have developed good habits at Shanty Creek.  I have learned to manage my anger and to concentrate on my journey.  I have learnt to deal with my health and have learnt to budget and have learnt new things in group work.

Thank you for telling your story about Lives Lived Well's Shanty Creek and how it has been a good place for you.

It is great you were able to go off site and connect with country, to learn about working on yourself and be supported by the staff. The other skills you mention, dealing with your health, budgeting and managing your feelings, all help you to focus and concentrate on your journey. That is a big effort.
