"Waiting for hand surgery"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 2 West & Hand Clinic

(as the patient),

I have been in the waiting room since before 8am it is now 3. 20pm (as I write this)... I was told to come in by 8am, couldn’t eat anything past 12am last night, had put everything away in locker and get into a dressing gown at 9am. Also told that I was the next person in line. I have been curled up in a ball on a chair freezing, with a back so sore, nowhere private to walk, no TV, no bed, no music, nothing but me, myself and a chair. Asked the nurse if I could get just my phone, completely ignored. Three people who checked in after me, served before me (non emergency), in my opinion, absolutely the worst experience to date.

Dear Bt

I am sorry to hear you have been waiting for that period of time for your surgery. If you could send me your details to this email: SESLHD-SSEHMedicalAdmin@health.nsw.gov.au, I will follow up with the manager on your behalf. Your feedback is valuable in helping us streamline our surgery processes and improving our communication to our patients when there are unforeseen delays.

Kind regards

Jennie
