"I was not happy with the care my wife received."

About: Tomaree Community Hospital / Accident & emergency

(as a carer),

My wife was very recently admitted to Tomaree Community Hospital one evening as she was unwell and I felt definitely needed some medical attention. During my visit to see her the next morning I noticed that she was bleeding from cracks to her heels and I approached one of the nurses for assistance, she showed me where the cream was and said knock yourself out and it was left for me to apply the Sorbolene cream to my wife's heels. My wife was not seen by the doctor until later that day.  The doctor did not appear to examine her, the only response was that my wife did not have the right to be admitted to hospital and that she should be discharged to her home. This is not the first time that we have had this response from this doctor who, I think, does not appear to have what you might say a genuine care for the sick. Also the general demeanor of most of the nurses who saw my wife, was rude, and they do not seem to care for their patients, especially those who are suffering from advanced dementia.

I always thought that a hospital is a place where sick people go to be looked after, for me, this is obviously not the case with Tomaree Community Hospital.

In future I do not intend use your hospital and would rather drive to John Hunter where I think there is a better level of service and they seem to have a genuine care for patients in need.
