"Reduction in cancer patient outreach nurses"

About: St George Hospital

(as a carer),

This week we have been told that the number of outreach nurses has been reduced from two to only one. No fewer patients however. These nurses do a wonderful job. Surely this is a retrograde step, it seems that it may mean that some patients who are ambulatory (barely) may now have to attend the hospital for tests carried out, in the past, by outreach nurses. Can someone please explain.

Hi Garboo,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. The current number of outreach nurses is able to meet the needs of the service. There has been an increase in activity on working days due to the number of public holidays. If you would like further information about this please contact Kath Helling, Patient Experience Manager on 9113 2687, or Kathryn.helling@health.nsw.gov.au

Thanks again for taking the time provide your feedback. I will ensure that your lovely comments about the nursing staff are passed on to them.

Kind regards
