"Not enough nurses on the children’s ward"

About: Box Hill Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I feel there need to be more nurses on the night shift, it seems they are ran off their feet, trying to accommodate all patients.  It’s not fair on the sick children or the nurses who are restricted to give them the best form of care when they have so many patients

I think two nurses for an entire ward in absolutely insane and dangerous.

Dear Worries Mum,

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback regarding the number of nurses working overnight in the Children’s Ward at Box Hill Hospital.

Whilst there are routinely two nurses working overnight, we regularly review the clinical requirements of the patients on the ward to assess if this continues to be suitable and appropriate. This process is lead by the nurse in charge of the ward.

The safety of our patients and staff is of vital importance to all working at Eastern Health and as such, I will share your feedback with the Program Director for Women and Children services for further review.

Thank you again and I trust your child is recovering well from being in hospital.

Kind regards

David
