"Care of a family member"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Physical activity promotion Peter James Centre

(as a relative),

My family member was recently transferred to Peter James Centre, my sibling came to visit and found our family member half naked, crying on the floor. A staff member was present. This person is more than capable of having some dignity and respect shown, dressed properly and in a proper bed. They can get up, walk with assistance and talk. They have spent nearly 3 months prior at Box Hill hospital- and to be frank, I feel the whole experience has been beyond, woeful, shameful, disgraceful and deplorable. I believe that my family member has nearly died due to negligence and I feel they have been severely mismedicated which has led to a severe decline in condition since admission, instead of an improvement. My family member came in with a very mild, common condition. I am very concerned about how I feel patients are being treated on these wards and in this hospital and organisation, a thorough investigation is warranted.

Dear Wise Life,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share comments regarding your experience and that of your family member. I am sorry it was not a positive one and also that you raise concerns regarding the level of care provided. I would be very happy for a formal and thorough investigation. In order for us to follow up your particular circumstances, I would like to invite you to contact one of our Patient Relations Advisors in the Eastern Health Centre for Patient Experience either by calling 1800 EASTERN or by emailing feedback@easternhealth.org.au. If you choose to call please be aware that it is possible that the Patient Relations Advisors may be on another call at the time you ring and if so you will be invited to leave a message so they can return your call.

I hope you do make contact soon but will respect your wishes should you choose not to.

Thank you again Wise Life and kind regards

David
