I've lived in Fitzroy for some time now so have gone to the GP at the hospital on several occasions.
I find most of the GP's very good as they are patient and will explain things carefully. They are allocated a full 20 minutes for each appointment which is double what private GP's give in the city.
There was one GP I wasn't happy with as they were dismissive about a possible skin cancer on my face. I thought it to be a skin cancer due to past experience but I had to convince them to refer me to the dermatologist and they wouldn't take a biopsy themselves. The wait for a dermatologist was so great I ended up seeing a private one in the city- and sure enough, I had a skin cancer that resulted in surgery.
I had occasion to take my child to the emergency once and they were treated quickly and well.
Counselling & mental health services are not great as they are referred outside the health services to a private provider who actually doesn't have any staff at all in Fitzroy Crossing and only offer phone consultations (not even video conference or SKYPE which are so easy to arrange these days). However, that's a failure on the part of the government for outsourcing health services.
Overall though, the care is good and quick.
"Generally good care"
