Earlier this year I fell from my bike and used by face to break my fall. Multiple fractures but no loss of consciousness.
The consultant Dr Martin at Bunbury Hospital was exceptional in his care. I was kept informed. I felt I could be part of the decision making and I felt safe. He clearly knew his stuff.
He arranged for my transfer to Royal Perth Hospital (RPH).
I have no doubt that without this doctor's care - my outcome could have been very different.
The Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) got me to the Trauma Unit at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH).
Coming from the country, I was apprehensive about the experience. I need not have worried. From the ward clerk through to the doctors and nurses, social worker, cleaners etc - everyone who treated me made me feel safe and well cared for.
I felt safe (for the most part). I was kept informed. I was offered choices in my care.
I'm not rushing back but the care was good.
"Felt safe and cared for at Bunbury Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital."
