"Communication and parking problems"

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as the patient),

This happened this year, I travelled from Cue to the hospital to the lung testing place, it was closed because its only part time. Not bad for an 840 km trip, perhaps it would help if they told the doctors in the Midwest that they are only open now and again, it's a major hospital, it should be open full time. The other complaint I have is there is not enough disabled parking, only 4, I have had to go home as couldn't get a parking bay and cancel my appointment. I hope those that make up the rules see this and do something, thank you.

Dear cueite

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Patient Opinion. I acknowledge the concerns that you have raised and I was so sorry to read that you travelled from Cue and were unable to access the service you required. There are a couple of clinics located on the Geraldton Health Campus one of which is a private provider and consumers are normally seen by appointment which is made prior to attending. I'm a little unsure as to which clinic you are referring to as the “lung testing place” and so that we can investigate your concerns we require some further details from you. We would be very grateful if you could please contact us directly to discuss the issues you have raised. Derek Fraser, Operations Manager, Geraldton Hospital can be contacted on 9956 2369 or 0409 045 153 or alternatively, you can contact myself on 9956 8695 or michele.young@health.wa.gov.au. Your call would be very welcome and can still be addressed anonymously if you wish.

In regards to access to disabled parking on the Geraldton Health Campus, I'm sorry that you were not able to access parking on your visit to our service. I can advise there are 5 different sites across the campus that provide accessible disabled parking which meets the current guidelines however we are aware that in at peak periods this parking is in demand. Planning has commenced for the Geraldton Health Campus redevelopment and accessible disabled parking close to the building entrances will be factored in.

Thanks again for getting in touch, we really value your feedback and we look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Kind regards

Michele
