My experience with the Christmas meals was a positive one. The chocolate at breakfast was a surprise, it had to wait for later. It was my first Christmas alone in 57 years, so as you can imagine I was pretty down. Being a country patient, I knew I would not even get a single visitor. Nurses kept my spirits up and I must say, I felt there seemed to be some type of food coming all day long. No sooner finished breakfast and morning tea came, fruit mince pie. Yum! Finished that and turkey lunch came, it was delicious, next of course afternoon tea with those amazing Christmas tree shortbreads, they were huge. I had chosen salad for dinner and I am so glad I did as I felt so full from the stream of goodies. I think you did an excellent job with both the food and keeping a very lonely patient occupied. Thank you to the catering and the ward staff Royal Perth Hospital, Acute Surgical Ward 5A.
