"Care of Mum Fiona Stanley Hospital"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Respiratory Medicine Department & Ward 5D

(as a carer),

After blood test results my Mum was advised to go to hospital (urgently) by her GP. Mum was hesitant and needed convincing by her family she should go. Mum was admitted via ED to Ward 5D in the early hours of the morning.

Sadly after an initial response to treatment mum deteriorated quickly and she passed away peacefully in her sleep with all her family present.

I would like to say thank you to all the staff who were involved with Mum's care. To nurses Georgia and Liz, Mum really liked you both. Thank you for your kindness and treatment you gave her. To Dr Daniel again she liked you as well although at times it would have been difficult for you to tell. To Social worker Sally thank you for your professionalism and care   To the registrar who delivered the sad news and made mum comfortable on her last day, again thank you so much because of your advice, I  was able to get the family to see mum to say goodbye.

Dear Bizzyt1,

Thank you for sharing your experience of your mum’s care at what must be a very difficult time for you. Our staff are very proud of the care they provide right to the end of a person’s life, and will be very grateful for your kind praise. My deepest sympathies, and those of all the team who cared for your mum, are with you at this time. We hope you all found some small comfort in being able to share this precious time together.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty.
