Took myself to Wyalkatchem-Koorda Hospital with severe upper abdomen pain and constant regurgitation of anything I swallowed, mainly water. Couldn't bare to even look at solids. I was immediately attended by nurse and staff arranged a video consult with a doctor as no local doctor was available, I was given pain killers and transported by ambulance to Northam Hospital, I was comfortable at this stage but a blood test on arrival indicated the need for me to transfer to Royal Perth Hospital by ambulance.
I spent 11 days and had 2 procedures and was discharged in good health.
From my first contact at Wyalkatchem to the time I was discharged I was treated professionally and with genuine care by all I had contact with. From nurses, wonderful people, ambulance staff and all the staff in the Emergency Department through to surgical staff I can offer nothing but my utmost admiration for their competence and care.
A special thank you to Wyalkatchem Hospital staff who were able to alleviate my pain and to Steve who accompanied and tended me on my first ambulance trip at some ungodly hour.
One hears of problems in the healthcare industry but my experience tells me there is a lot right with it.
"So much right with the healthcare industry"
