"Annoying eye"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I recently attended the Emergency Department at Sydney Hospital. There was a lot of people in the waiting room so I feared the worst and I was in quite a bit of pain. After presenting to the front desk within minutes I was triaged, assessed and drops out in to make me feel more comfortable.

Not long after returning to the waiting room the head nurse came out and updated everyone on the proposed waiting times but said there were a number of doctors in and people were being seen reasonably quickly but this could change if an emergency came in. I was called in within the hour to see the doctor. This was thorough and the longest wait was for them to get a second opinion on my condition.

All in all this was as efficient as can be and the communication by the head nurse to set expectations was much appreciated.

Dear nowaterpolo,

I am very happy to hear that you were quickly assessed and supplied with pain relief for your eye. Communicating with our patients a very important and I am pleased to hear the nurses kept you well informed of the ongoing waiting time.

Thank you for your feedback and I will have great pleasure in passing on your comments to our wonderful ED staff.

Kind regards
