"Caring and supportive care from staff"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I write to you in regards to my stay at the Fiona Stanley Hospital. Having had numerous consultations and tests prior throughout the last year at the same hospital with Urology, that have at times been a mix up of double bookings, failed communications and a general lack of details communicated to myself as a patient, I was very concerned. That was until I was in attendance on the day and after my procedure and may I say, the team that you have from the nurses and catering on the surgical ward are an absolute credit to, not only the Fiona Stanley Hospital, but medical care in Australia.

The continual support after my procedure of attentive, reassuring nurses whom nothing was to much effort aided my nervousness and concerns. In particular Kim whom looked after me on night shift was wonderful and I cannot thank her enough for not only being a rock of support, she took the time to listen and engage in conversation when I could not sleep. Kim is a nurse that not only whom takes personal pride is her role, she is such a caring and wonderful person. Nurse Steph was so polite and professional I was treated so every well day and night while in recovery and was sad to have to be discharged.

The team that deliver our food trays and clear them are attentive and even find the time to say hello and how are you which is great to see. Very few people whom are in the hospitality industry at the lower to middle roles achieve praise, however as a manager within the industry, your team are far better that many others I have encountered over the years of something as simple as being courteous. The food was most impressive for I, like many others, thought hospital food could be the worst.

A big thank you to nurse Josie whom was the 1st nurse I had encountered when I woke from the procedure prior to being moved up to the ward. If you ever needed the reassurance and compassion when returning from sedation, Josie is amazing. Friendly, helpful, ability to communicate what is happening and the feeling that you are in safe hands replicated her as a nurse caring for me.

I cannot thank your team at the Fiona Stanley Hospital enough or show my sincere gratitude as a patient. I hope you pass this email onto the teams, managers and more as I would have no hesitation in recommending or returning to Fiona Stanley.

Dear pelicannr96

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. Patient feedback is invaluable to us, it helps us to work on areas that you feel we need to improve upon but also allows us to encourage and praise staff when we receive compliments about the great care that they have provided.

I am sorry to hear that the beginning of your patient experience with Urology was not as you would have expected, this feedback has been sent on to the Urology team so that they are aware and can work on improving the service they provide in this area.

Thank you for your positive feedback relating to the care you experienced when you arrived at Fiona Stanley. I have sent your feedback on to the relevant areas and managers you mention so that they can share this positive news with their teams.

I wish you well with your recovery and I thank you again for providing us with you feedback.
