"Transport from Broome Hospital"

About: Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service / Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service

(as the patient),

I am pregnant and had to have a specialist appointment.

I was dropped off by a Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) driver but as my appointment was delayed and BRAMS was closed, I needed to be dropped home.

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer (ALO) refused to drop me home because I wasn't on the list.

The other ALO who was going home gave me a lift kindly.

Dear sigmaez75

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. It's hard enough being pregnant and having to see specialists, without having these types of issues!

I would have expected the ALO to drop you home whether you were on a list or not. It is lovely that the other ALO helped you out, but they should not have needed to.

Please accept my sincere apologies. I really am sorry and would like to make sure this does not happen again.

I have already spoken with the manager of the ALO service and asked that she feed this back to her team and ensure that they are more flexible and customer focused in the future.

If you would like to speak with me personally about this or any other issue, I would love to hear from you. I am contactable on (08) 9195 2855 or you can email wendy.mckinley@health.wa.gov.au

Thank you again. You have given us an opportunity to improve the service for everyone.

Sincerely

Wendy
