"Rude doctor during our hospital visit"

I have been to the Albany Hospital a few times and generally the nurses and doctors I have seen have been absolutely amazing. So kind, caring and efficient.

Today I had to take my partner up to the hospital as my partner was in a lot of pain, as we were driving my partner was struggling to breath from the pain and asked if I could talk on their behalf.

When we got there the nurses where helpful and worked fast to put make my partner feel as comfortable as possible.

Then the doctor on duty came in, the doctor was asking my partner questions and a few my partner couldn't answer properly as my partner was in pain so I would answer for them. Every time I did that, I felt that the doctor would make a smart comment back to me and then asked me to leave and wait in the waiting room. 

I really felt there was no need for the doctor to be rude, at the end of the day I was there to support my partner and make sure the health care professionals had all the information they needed as my partner wasn't able to fully supply it.

Dear falcongc63,

I am very sorry that the doctor was rude to you. This is not how we like our staff to behave. This does not fit with our values and the standard of care we strive for.

I have spoken with the head of our Emergency Department about this. He will pass on your feedback to his team so that they can reflect and learn from it.
