I live in a small town in the Northern Goldfields. I'm writing you this letter in regards to my eldest child.
Being a small country town, we don't have the access to health services such as you would in Perth or Kalgoorlie for that matter. But there are a number of mobile services that do visit from time to time.
One of which is the Ear Bus. Which my child visited and was assessed with a hearing issue in mid 2017. A staff member from the Ear Bus immediately forwarded a referral to Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) and instructed myself and my partner that it could take several months to be processed.
I'm writing you this letter because we have only just received a date, with very little notice or communication from the hospital itself.
They lost the referral the first time. Never contacted myself or the staff member from the Ear bus.
The staff member from the Ear Bus was very persistent and diligent in chasing them up for me and demanding an answer and an appointment date, success! We finally got a date.
However, the paperwork never arrived at our end. It seemed to have been lost again! No one at PCH seemed to know what had happened or where the paperwork had gone.
And as usual they were not very forthcoming with assisting the staff member from the Ear Bus or myself in finding the appointment letters.
I eventually tracked the mail down! They had sent the letters to my ex partner, in Perth 1000 km away, even when they had all my current information, mailing address, phone etc.
Now I still haven't received those letters, making life a little difficult. Yet again the staff member from the Ear Bus came through for us and emailed me all the information they had collected over the months. With a date, times and places. I don't understand why PCH couldn't do this?
I'm not usually one to whinge or make complaints, people make mistakes. But my child means the world to me and I would have rathered this issue been seen to and dealt with sooner and more professionally than it has been by PCH. As my child is nearly totally deaf in one ear and no one can tell me or understands why this is so!
Anyway I know you're busy people, but I was just hoping maybe you'd be able to look into my concerns. As we are not the only family in a regional area to have been forgotten about or over looked, as it seems. I have a paper trail of everything that has happened, just for your information
Thankyou for your time.
Yours Sincerely.
"Complaint about lack of cooperation and professionalism"
