Recently we were having a birthday party for my parent who had turned 90. I did tell the staff that I will come back and get my parent ready (as I knew the staff were very busy). There was a bad storm and we did not get there until 5.30 that afternoon, when I arrived I nearly cried as a staff member had my parent all ready for the party. I was so shocked and happy. Off we went to the party and when I took my parent back home the greeting they got was fantastic. I could not thank the staff member enough.
A few weeks later I received a phone call stating my parent was transferred the Shepparton Hospital for medical treatment, I spent 3 days with my parent in Shepparton and when we arrived back in Cobram Irvin House my parent was very upset and when we saw a particular staff member my parent cried and the staff member asked why my parent was crying and my parent said, it's good to see you and be home, I did cry myself as it has been 2 years since I have heard my parent say it's good to be home.
I also made a phone call to the Nursing Home regarding my parent's phone and the complaint was immediately attended to and was handled with upmost respect. I cannot thank the particular staff concerned enough.
I have worked in aged care for 13 years and understand how demanding it can be.
