"Bed allocations"

About: Box Hill Hospital

(as the patient),

I do feel that very little thought is put into bed allocation. I was recently in Box Hill Hospital and was put into a 2 bed ward with a very angry patient whose language left a lot to be desired as this patient shared their anger with a friend whilst speaking on the phone, making my time in the ward very uncomfortable.

Secondly, I was in the bed on the far side and had to pass this patient in order to use the bathroom (no mean feat in those blue gowns). I can only ask why. Why put two people of different genders in the same room? And why was I put on the far side of the room? My request to be moved was ignored. I am going into hospital again soon so here's hoping.

Dear lionnb39,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share comments on your recent experience as an inpatient at Box Hill Hospital. I am sorry this was not as positive as it should have been. It is not appropriate for patients and staff to experience the language you have and I'm sorry we were not able to make this better for both you and the staff in the ward.

I understand you have already made contact with the Patient Relations Advisors in the Eastern Health Centre for Patient Experience and I thank you for doing so. With your personal details, a review will be able to be undertaken and feedback provided to you. Given you are going into hospital again soon, I will ask the team to see if this can be done as a priority.

My apologies and thank you again.

Kind regards

David
