My elderly parent had a fall at home, hitting their head recently. They were taken to St George Hospital Emergency Department (ED) for assessment. When I arrived in the department, my parent was cleaned up and being monitored in Hall 1. All staff from the clerical, porters, nursing staff and SRMO were compassionate and respectful to my parent. A special mention to the Clinical Nurse Specialist Allison, whose role is to review the over 65-year-olds to ensure safe discharge and management. Again, she was respectful and empathetic to my parent's declining cognitive ability and our distress that this causes. She worked her magic behind the scenes and quickly got a bed at St George Private for review and support. My parent was also reviewed by the physio in the ED. This service is exceptional for this age group and takes the pressure off the other staff within the department.
Please forward on my thanks to all the staff involved in my parent's care. Well done St George ED Hall 1.
Also, thank you to the Ambulance crew, they were fabulous with my parent.
