Recently we presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with our child with a referral from a doctor at St John Urgent Care. My child sustained an injury to their hand and there was concern of ligament/tendon damage as well as bone being pulled from the growth plate.
After our child was assessed and was seen by the Occupational Therapist for a hand splint, we were not informed of the significance of the injury and if we needed any further referrals to specialists as the initial treating doctor at Urgent care had thought.
We left with follow up at the hand clinic which is great but we still do not know for sure the extent of damage to our child's hand and what the exact management plan is.
