"A relative admitted to the hospital"

About: Collie Hospital

(as a relative),

Last year my elderly relative was admitted to hospital after a fall. But they and 2 other elderly patients were in a room that had previously been a children's ward. Nurses apologised and said it was going to be painted and bathroom renovated.   The toilet was tiny, and had absolutely no grab rails (which my relative had at home). We spent the whole time upset and worried. I've just visited someone in the same room and nothing has changed. How dangerous and undignified is this?

Dear decembermk38,

Thank you for sharing the experience you had with your relative. I sincerely apologise for the worry you and your family experienced during their admission at Collie Hospital. We have been upgrading areas of Collie Hospital, including the Emergency Department and have plans to upgrade the Operating theatre. The ward area is in also need or some attention and am arranging a review and quotes to urgently address the concerns you have raised.

Please don’t hesitate to touch base on my mobile: 0438 104 845 if you have any further concern or input.

I will keep you informed of the outcome of the changes we make as a result of your feedback.

Kind regards,

Amber Hargans

A/District Manager
