Instead of receiving an appointment to discuss my concerns with a Urologist I have received an appointment for urodynamics before the end of the year. I rang and left a message explaining that I do not require this procedure (used to diagnose incontinence) as it is well documented that I already have it and have been living with it post-surgery for 20yrs.
Recently, I was contacted by a staff member. I explained that I only required a chat with the Urologist, having previously had urodynamics twice before and at this stage, I was not willing to go through that again.
Without having yet discussed my problem with the Urologist, I'm unsure as to whether or not they can even be of future assistance to me. I also explained reasons why I am now loathe to be catherterized unless it's for surgery or an emergency. Not only was the staff member's response fixed and unnegotiable, they told me they doubted that I had ever had urodynamics before as Glengarry doesn't do it. Even after they were aware that I had become upset, they told me that unless I did urodynamics, I couldn't see the Urologist.
I asked the staff member to ask the Urologist if I could just see them for a chat but they refused then made it clear unless I first did urodynamics my appointment with a Urologist would be cancelled.
I said I might have to return to my G.P. for a referral to see another Urologist to which the staff member replied that then I will have to go private. I said that I would need time to think about it. I sincerely believe that when a Urologist is enlightened to my problem they would not even feel the need to send me for urodynamics.
