"My child's trip to Emergency"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I've worked in WA health for more than 10 years, I am usually a provider of healthcare rather than on the receiving end.

I just wanted to acknowledge the excellent care my child received in Busselton's Emergency Department last night, particularly from Dr Francis. Without being aware of my background in health he had explained my child's diagnosis in full, the different treatment options, the differential diagnoses and why he had cause to exclude them. He explained the current evidence behind his recommendations and how we would evaluate the process at each step. He explained the time frames for evaluating my child's progress so I always knew what to expect, and after each interaction he asked for my questions and opinions.

He, as well as all of the nursing staff had a wonderful bedside manner and rapport building skills with my toddler. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful place and still have access to such high quality care so close to home.

Hi marsgs64,

We were delighted to get your story on Patient Opinion.

Dr. Francis is one of the ED Consultants and we are very lucky to have so many senior Dr’s working in Busselton ED who take the time to explain and listen to the parents.

I do hope your child is now getting better, but do not hesitate to return if you have any concerns.

I will pass on your compliment to all of the ED staff.

Warm Regards,

Caroline Booker
