My family and I recently visited Carnarvon. Shortly after we arrived my child fell off their bicycle and injured themselves with lots of grazes and was guarding their arm.
We presented to the Emergency Department (ED) at Carnarvon Hospital where we were greeted promptly by two lovely ED Nurses one of which was called Rachel and the other I later found out was a Graduate Nurse. They were wonderful with my child, making sure they felt safe all whilst making a thorough assessment of their injuries. They gave them pain medication, applied a sling and then progressed to getting them seen by one of the doctors.
We didn't have to wait long. My child was given an X-Ray and then seen by Dr Richard who was absolutely wonderful with them. He explained everything in a way my child could understand. His bedside manner was just lovely, so much so that my child almost looked excited to be getting a cast. Dr Richard made them feel so comfortable when putting the cast on. He was explaining every step and talking about what this meant for the next four or so weeks. He asked if they were worried or had any questions. He then let them take a photo of the imaging so they could show their friends at school. Thank you so much to the wonderful team at the Carnarvon Hospital especially Rachel and Dr Richard.
