"Treatment I received"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 1 East (Ophthalmology)

(as the patient),

I was recently examined by a group of doctors who I believe lack empathy, compassion and showed total disrespect to a fellow Australian citizen. Not sure if this is how a public system of eye hospital works?

I went with a serious eye problem of losing my vision and after examination, I feel it was a mere joke to a group of doctors.

The senior consultant, I believe, rushed into my room and asked questions of the junior doctor about my eye conditions, not even considering someone is sitting in front of them who just needs a bit of empathy.

The senior consultant was very busy to appreciate their junior doctor saying lucky to have a case like this and asking my permission to present my case in their next lecture (appreciate that). But I would say before showing cases to their junior doctors is that the first thing to teach is to be kind, compassionate and treat patients with empathy.

I can understand I am not paying up front as I went to a public hospital but please respect a fellow citizen who pays taxes every year to support public systems.

After the examination, what I felt is that nothing can be done to my eyes. I am asked to come again after four months even though I have been losing vision for four weeks before my appointment (was waiting to get an appointment).

I believe the doctor is not interested to listen and doesn't care about my vision because their senior doctor said to see the patient after four months.

Don't know which doctor to see or what to do next? Do I have a disease to eyes which is incurable?? What is the best treatment? Anything can be done as a matter of urgency to prevent further vision loss?

All my questions are unanswered after seeing specialised doctors in Sydney Eye Hospital because, I feel, no one is ready to answer a patient's concerns.
