I wanted to ring Wonthaggi Hospital to find out the visiting hours to visit a friend who is a patient, but didn't know the number. I found it's not on the White Pages app under that name (why not?). Never mind. So I check the website. Sure, the contact number is there, but under Bass Coast Health? Might be known to locals but it didn't matter, nobody took the call at 5:45pm anyway. Okay, they may be doing something important. And hey, I'm on the website anyway so the visiting hours will be shown there, surely. Let's look under Patient and Visitor Information - Oh no, I couldn't find it! Frustrating!

Hi averagecitizen,

My apologies that it was so difficult for you to find the basic information you were looking for about Wonthaggi Hospital.

Our main reception is open until 5pm and after that the phones are switched over to our Emergency Department which is staffed 24/7. Staff are usually able to attend to calls in a timely way however at times will be busy with patients or other calls. We are looking at options to improve our phone system for incoming calls to try to minimise any frustrations when callers ring in.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the website and I agree the information regarding visiting hours is not at all clear. We will review the website in the next few weeks and ensure we provide clear details for people wishing to visit a patient within the hospital.
