I was waiting in the Emergency Department for four hours unattended with no blood pressure being regularly checked. I fell asleep a few times and finally had enough and went to speak to somebody and a doctor comes in right away.
I was seen to for five minutes, was told I should have received hydralyte due to a gastro outbreak in my house and was sent home.
I was yellow, had high blood pressure, whenever I stood up I felt faint, had red dots all over my face from vomiting so hard and was vomiting. I am well into my pregnancy and I was cramping and urinating blood. I felt awful.
The doctor didn't check my urine which I believe is standard for checking over someone who was pregnant. I was then sent home and was told to drink hydralyte.
I went to my GP the next day and they said I had a UTI and needed to be on antibiotics.
I went back to the hospital as the antibiotics did not completely clear up the infection, they again said I didn't need to be on antibiotics and left it at that.
I was furious, called the midwives at another medical service who said Noarlunga does not have a paediatrician department which makes it a little more difficult for them but to please come in as you need to be seen.
A few hours later and my baby is safe, I had my antibiotics script I knew I needed and was feeling better about my treatment.
