Let me start by saying that the care they received in the last few days of their life was second to none. The nursing (and medical) care they received was respectful, compassionate and empathetic, they were treated with dignity. The staff we dealt with on Ward 61 at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) are to be commended and management needs to acknowledge that it is these people, the staff on the floor, that make the biggest difference. I cannot thank them enough for making my parent's final days easier for both my parent and the family. To have the coordinator on for the shift tear up because the hospital had no syringe drivers left to ease my parent's pain in their final hours, to have nurses go above and beyond to show compassion and understanding to the family, to go out of their way to explain everything, this I believe you can't buy.
