It was terrible. While I was there, my psychiatrist told me I had developed Parkinsonism, as a permanent side effect to a drug they had prescribed.
I was told it would never go away, and so I researched it. I would not be able to work anymore, and as I did not want my child who is a young adult to have to look after me, I researched care centres and they were all for older people.
I was in agony and I got very angry with my doctor because they had never warned me that this could happen. The doctor maintains that I was abusive and threw things at them, but the only things I had when we spoke, were the very soft items of clothing that I was throwing in my bag as I wanted to leave.
They never called for help, so it is hard to believe that they were as afraid as they state. They had previously dragged me across my room, out into the hallway area, thrown me against the wall and said you can sit there.
I think this constitutes psychological abuse. I believe the doctor also broke their Hippocratic oath - they broke our doctor/patient confidentiality by speaking in a loud voice about me in the ward. I believe the nurses were horrified as the doctor told them that, although our sessions had once been good, they were now boring. I also believe the doctor told the whole ward that all I could talk about was my insomnia and that our sessions were so boring. When I opened the door and the doctor realised I had heard, they just laughed. The doctor told me they weren't going to see me anymore while I was in the hospital but I don't think they told the staff.
The doctor knew that I also had bouts of delirium. One day my child who is a young adult spent four hours in my room with me and I was delirious. My child was so upset and went into the hospital, asking what anyone was doing to help me. My child couldn't get an answer, and then a nurse told them to go home and phone my doctor. My child got into their car, phoned their other parent and burst into tears. I have tried to clear up some of this and find out what happened with the Head of Nursing.
The Head of Nursing has read one email I sent and said they would have a think about it and get back to me. That was several months ago.
I don't think this hospital is safe at all. I feel I could have gone into the street, walked in front of a car and no one would have noticed. I still don't know if my doctor told the staff that they weren't going to visit me in the hospital anymore, but it seems that the doctor didn't. Or, if they did, I feel the staff just couldn't care less. They didn't even do anything to help my child and they are only a young adult.
After the Victoria Clinic, I found a psychiatrist at another psych clinic and thankfully, the Parkinsonism diagnosis that I got from the doctor at the Victoria Clinic was wrong.
