"Wonderful ED staff"

About: Karratha Health Campus

(as the patient),

I was first brought in via ambulance last month and underwent an emergency Laparotomy. The ambulance staff, ED staff and the surgeons were beyond wonderful.

Doctor Leslie was in the hospital so I was able to look at my CT scans right away & they had me in Theatre not long after. I cannot commend his care and skills highly enough. He is an absolute champ and I am so thankful he was the one to operate on me that day.

I was blown away by all the staff involved in my care (I wish I had names but as you can imagine I wasn’t exactly in the right state of mind). I was flown to Perth the following day and again, the Royal Flying Doctor Service was incredible.

I stayed in Perth hospital for two weeks and was discharged.

Recently, I presented at the Karratha Emergency Department. I was having bowel issues (nowhere near as awful as the first time). However, I was again, blown away by your staff in the ED department, from the triage nurse (I believe her name was Brie) through to the Doctors & Nurses in ED.

In particular; Doctor Nick, nurses Brooke, Rachel, and Sarah, and a lovely staff member who did my CT Scan. All were fantastic and went above and beyond. I cannot thank them enough. I spent roughly 9 hours there and the care from the nurses Rachel, Sarah and Brooke especially were outstanding.

Whilst being in the ED Department I heard other patients coming in & out for various reasons, and your staff dealt with them with professionalism and care, even though some were rude, argumentative and demanding.

I myself, am an ex Police Sergeant of over 10 years, so I have been in hospitals with arrests and mental health patients more times than I can remember.

Your staff do an amazing and sometimes thankless job, but they still treated every patient that came through with care and empathy.

This email is just to say thank you to your staff for both incidents when I attended the Hospital. I know sometimes Hospitals get a bad rap, but my experiences have been nothing short of exceptional.

For your information and forwarding to your staff.
