"Making an appointment"

About: Blacktown Hospital

(as a relative),

I feel the staff here are very rude, old fashioned and don’t believe that patients know anything regarding their own health conditions and medical knowledge.

I believe that just to get an outpatient appointment is full of bureaucracy and red tape. First, the patient needs to get a referral faxed by a GP (fair enough) but then that they have to wait for weeks until Blacktown Hospital will then mail a letter confirming an appointment! I don't think this is appropriate in the 21 st Century.

I also feel that staff have outdated attitudes. I believe that even trying to get information from them such as what services happen at certain outpatient clinics etc. will be met with a scripted response of get a referral from your GP.
