"Mental health presentation at ED"

About: Mental Health Unit Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently, I presented to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) Emergency Department (ED) with my child due to their deteriorating mental health.

They were triaged speedily and progressed to the Mental Health Observation Unit, where they spent three days. The doctor and staff there were compassionate and caring.

This time I experienced a prompt and understanding response in ED - it makes such a difference for the person amd their family. We avoided deterioration and escalation.

Thank you to all staff, you made such a difference.

This was a positive experience.

Dear Warrior

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience at Emergency Department at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. It was really good to hear that the doctors and staff involved were caring and compassionate during what must have been a very stressful time for you and for your child.

The staff will be very pleased to receive your feedback and hear that their care made such a difference to your experience in the ED.

Many thanks once again.

Kind regards,

Janet Zagari

Update posted by Warrior (a parent/guardian)

Dear Ms Elmes,

My experience re MHOA have always been positive. It is the immediate Triage area (the foyer/waiting room) where Mental Health presentations are not always given the best status. I would like to think that this recent presentation is the expected standard for all staff.

Regards
