"Hospital stay experience"

Some of the nurses that attended to me were patient and caring, but not all of them. I believe I even heard one of them complain about me to other nurses.

The biggest issue, I feel, is the lack of communication between doctors and nurses and between nurses and nurses. One Doctor/nurse will say one thing and then another will come in and, in my opinion, completely contradict them. The doctor or nurse will say that they will chart something and then, I believe, they don't. I feel each nurse will come in and give me incorrect information and argue with me that I don't know what I am talking about, just because it is not in the chart even though the chart is repeatedly wrong.

I constantly had to remind nurses of what medication I needed to get. This is an everyday occurrence multiple times a day. How can a patient relax and heal when the doctors and nurses don't have or give you the correct information? This made the stay extremely stressful and upsetting.

The food and coffee people would have wrong information about my fasting, and when I needed to have an early morning breakfast, the staff member brought it to me at 7pm the night before and threw it on my table. I asked why they were giving it to me now, and they said nothing and when I asked if it could be put in a fridge the staff member just shrugged and walked off. Even the nurse thought this shouldn't have happened.

But the absolute worst experience was when I was wheeled to my bronchoscopy. The clinician complained the entire time about how bad they were feeling, about their ulcer, about the fact that they took care of everyone else but never themselves. I believe they would go on like this continuously to every single person who came near them. And the way they talked was loud and repetitive. They barely acknowledged that I was even there, they only said to me, Sorry matey I am very tired today. Once we had arrived the clinician dropped me there without a word, and then I had to listen to them complain about their whole life story to a nurse nearby. When I told another nurse about it I got very upset and the nurse apologised and said that the clinician had just been on stress leave. I said that obviously they are not ready to come back to work yet and they need to go home and focus on their own issues since that is clearly all they can think/talk about anyway. I also told an anaesthetist about it while waiting to go into the procedure. They were also quite shocked and apologetic. I should not have had to deal with this right before my surgery.
