"My experience at Greenslopes Private Hospital as a cardiac patient"

About: Greenslopes Private Hospital

(as the patient),

I was admitted in November 2019  for a planned  intervention to prevent ascending Aortic root failure when the Aortic root cross section dimension had reached 5.1 cm.  I was scheduled for an Aortic Root replacement the next day. Prior to this I had experienced no heart issues like blocked arteries or failing values. However, I had been monitoring the dilation of the Aortic root since 2013.

I was feeling anxious at such serious surgery. I am an older adult and had only ever had 1 operation before on my back in 2007.

Although Aortic  valve sparing was a possibility the surgeon decided to replace the valve when he had the chance to visually inspect it.

My purpose in telling this story is to thank the Doctors, RNs and support staff in the cardiac operating theatres, the ICU and and Ward 45 for their wonderful support and and care during my 4 days in ICU and my subsequent care in Ward 45.

I have nothing but praise for the care I received. I feel blessed and full of gratitude.

Thank you Ramsay Health and all those who looked after me in Greenslopes Private Hospital.
