"Appointment"

About: Karratha Health Campus

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was seen a few months ago by the Paed Doctor and was told they would need an appointment towards the end of the year to see this particular doctor to speak over the phone to the surgeon in Perth, and to get their referral for a consultation and surgery which needs to be done early next year as it was urgent.

My child forgot about this and I believe they never received an appointment. I rang outpatients on 2 occasions where they gave me an appointment for early next month however with a completely different doctor plus this isn't giving me much time to get their surgery booked etc. They said they would speak to the doctor and see if they can get me in as the doctor goes on holidays until the following month.

They said they would call me back but have not. The doctor previously gave me their email in case we had any problems and needed to contact them. I have sent the doctor 3 emails and I believe they are refusing to reply now as well as return my calls. This is ongoing for several weeks now and outpatients were supposed to ring me almost 2 weeks ago.

Dear firemf85,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Karratha Health Campus and bringing this issue to my attention. The possibility of an urgent surgery for your child is certainly cause for concern and I can only apologise for the further stress caused by the delay in setting this up for your child.

Could you please contact me directly as soon as possible? I would like the opportunity to look into the details of your child’s visit and help make any further arrangements.

I can be contacted via email on WACHS-Pilbara.Feedback@health.wa.gov.au or on 9144 7777, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Matt Ravenscroft

Dear firemf85,

Thank you for getting in touch with us via email. Since receiving your email, I have followed up your child’s referral with our paediatrician. Our paediatrician has been able to organise a referral and provide a surgery date for your child. I hope this has satisfactorily resolved your concerns.

I hope your child’s surgery goes smoothly and wish you and your family the best of health.

Kind regards,

Matt Ravenscroft

Thanks Mark,

The Paediatrician did email on me a referral, I did go to my GP and get a referral while waiting on it. I went privately to source an appointment. The Paediatrician did call me to apologise.

Thanks again
