Had a locked jaw and could not eat or drink, or even swallow pain relief such as Panadol. I saw my dentist who told me to go to hospital. I arrived at the Townsville General Emergency Department and had to wait three hours in the waiting room, watching patients arrive, get treated, and then leave.
After I was finally brought in, I saw a doctor who ordered jaw X-rays. After another hour, I was not seen by a single soul - no nurses. Then I was taken away by a radiographer to get my X-ray. The radiographer told me straight after my X-ray that it looks like something is going on in my joints but they couldn't tell what because they can't see my muscles in an X-ray.
When I got back, the doctor came and said that the X-ray was fine, it should resolve on its own and I could go home. I told the doctor I can't eat, or drink, or even take pain relief and the doctor just didn't seem to really have anything to say. I felt like I was being sent home because they were busy and wanted to get rid of people.
"Not taken seriously"
