"Immunisation Appointment"

About: Kalgoorlie Population Health

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently, we attended the Population Health Department for the 'Walk in' Clinic to have our child's High School Immunisations (HPV) booster completed.  The clinic was filled with lots of happy children, obviously beating the heat!  So we asked to make a scheduled time later that day or week.  The reception staff were fantastic, happy and friendly and assisted us with a booking for later that day.

Upon our return, we met with our nurse Jess. Minimal wait time, all paperwork checked off and into the Clinic for the injection.

Jess was amazing, she tailored her conversation to suit our child who was already prepared, informed and relaxed!  Jess realised that her patient was a 'frequent flyer' and we were just amazing with her information, description of procedure and professionalism.

Our child left the clinic feeling like they were in control of their medical care and was given a refreshing feeling of confidence about their maturity.

Thanks Jess for making an almost teenage child feel confident and 100% involved in their care

Keep up the great work everyone.

Dear giftez63,

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your recent immunisation experience. I am glad that you and your child found our reception staff and Jess so helpful, as undertaking an immunisation at any age can be stressful.

I agree Jess is a truly caring and compassionate health professional. And, like all of our Community Health Nurses, Jess is focused on ensuring that any care given is tailored to each individual so that ultimately they are in charge of what happens. This can be even more important when working with teenagers as it helps them with their maturing confidence and increasing independence.

Thank you to both yourself and your child for your commitment to this important health program.

I will ensure that Jess and our reception team are aware of your kind words.

Kind regards

Alicia Michalanney
