(as the patient),

I was travelling with my family in the area south of Collie when I was affected by severe abdominal pain. I went to Collie Hospital where I was seen to promptly by a very caring and professional nurse practitioner, and then a doctor who both suspected acute appendicitis.

I was told I would be transferred to Bunbury Hospital as they no longer have surgical options at Collie. I requested that I be driven by family rather than an ambulance and the hospital staff confirmed my condition through blood tests before agreeing to this. I was given the paperwork to hand to Bunbury staff and told to present there for surgical review.

I want to commend and thank the busy Collie staff on making me feel truly cared for and listened to while they were still treating a number of other patients at the same time.

Thank you for providing such good feedback in response to the care that you received at Collie Hospital Emergency Department. It is really good to hear that you were seen and cared for in a prompt and professional manner by the Nurse Practitioner and Doctor. I will ensure that they are made aware of your feedback.

Your feedback in regards to being allowed to be driven by family to Bunbury rather than ambulance is again really positive given that the local clinicians ensured that you were safe to do so by reviewing blood tests. Staff at Collie Hospital are very proud of the care that they deliver to the local community and really appreciate hearing from patients. I hope that you have recovered and were able to enjoy the remainder of your holiday.
