"Being on the wait list"

About: Albany Health Campus / Specialist Rooms

(as the patient),

From the beginning ... I had an appointment to see my Doctor mid-morning and one hour later, I’m still waiting only to hear the Doctor say this is my last patient but it wasn’t me. Upon checking why I was still waiting, it happens my file was in the wrong Doctor's rack. I did get my appointment except it was rushed as my Doctor was heading back to Perth.

So I have been on the waitlist for many months. I have made a number of phone calls to their administration and left messages with my name and number and never got a call back. When I did eventually get through, I spoke to a staff member who was very helpful with my concerns.

I was told I would be having my surgery in one of two months later in the year. This was great news. By the middle of the second of the two months when I could have had my surgery, I still hadn’t heard from the hospital so I tried calling again only to leave messages that were never returned. When I did get an answer again from the staff member I originally talked to, they said their job description had changed and they had to speak to a colleague and would get back to me and never did.

Recently, I missed a call from that staff member's colleague so I called back. They had called me by mistake and told me my case was yet to be decided by the hospital as to whether or not my surgery will go ahead. This caused me much stress and anxiety.

I’m a very understanding person, but this situation is making me very unhappy as I don’t know why I’ve been on a waitlist and may be told I can’t be helped after waiting so long.
