"Missing wheelchair"

About: Golden Oaks Complex

My sibling was a patient in transition at Golden Oaks Nursing Home. I felt it was a shocking experience culminating in them losing their brand new wheelchair.

The background to this is that my sibling could no longer stay at another facility in Bendigo due to their failing health. At Bendigo Hospital, they were assessed to go into a nursing home. Golden Oaks was chosen, however, I felt it soon became obvious that it was not the right place for my sibling.

Upon leaving Golden Oaks Nursing Home, the staff at the other facility packed up my sibling's things to transfer them to another nursing home. However, upon presenting at Golden Oaks to collect them and their wheelchair, it was discovered that the new wheelchair was missing.

The new nursing home asked for my sibling to bring their own wheelchair to them. We now have to purchase a new wheelchair for my sibling, as after many visits and telephone calls and even a look around the nursing home, we cannot locate their brand new blue wheelchair. I have been advised to ask for compensation for the lost wheelchair at Golden Oaks so that we can purchase a new one.

Bendigo Health are currently working with and will continue to work with the family in trying to resolve this issue of the missing wheelchair. At this point in time, Bendigo Health is waiting for further information regarding the wheelchair from the family.
