"Distressing comments made to a cancer patient"

Took my parent in for pre-chemo bloods whilst on holidays. The person who took the blood told my parent that what they have is not curable and that chemotherapy is just prolonging it. This was very distressing for my parent as we were just having bloods taken ready for chemo in two days in Sydney. We are well aware of the prognosis but to have someone who is not directly involved in their care say something like this is devastating. It was a big deal to even be able to go on holidays and make memories but I believe this person has undone whatever good feelings we have had.
