"Communication"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Stomach, Bowel and Liver Care (Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

(as the patient),

Another year, another Colonoscopy for me at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH).

The nurses looked after me and others whilst we waited to go to the theatre, and, in my opinion, all of us were a little apprehensive, as you would be.

But like last year, the two nurses greeted me, introduced themselves to me, explained the procedure and were caring. It felt good. The consultant, Melissa, explained the procedure and afterwards spoke about the results. It felt good.

It does not take much does it? Good people skills and professional by all concerned, and this was on a busy day as well.

The only downside is that I don't have to come back for a few more years, the results were good. Well done to RPH!

Dear capricornusmb67,

Thank you for your compliment for the Endoscopy Unit staff at RPH. I am pleased to hear that the staff provided excellent communication introducing themselves, explaining the procedures and processes.

I agree with you, these basic skills are so important and it is a fantastic reward for staff to hear that they are doing this well.

I sincerely appreciate the time you have taken to thank the staff and that you have so clearly described what was important to you in such a positive way.

Best wishes,

Dr Lesley Bennett

Great for the staff who work hard and often don't get thanked.
