My elderly parent was admitted to the surgical department late last year with high anxiety and dementia. Their spouse had just been admitted to Royal Perth Hospital and the separation caused them grief and anxiety to the point they couldn't cope with living on their own in their Independent Unit as their spouse had unofficially been their main carer and support.
After a few days, my parent was shifted down to the Rehabilitation Department and stayed for a few weeks. As a family we were so impressed with the kindness and compassion exhibited by the nursing staff. We were also impressed with the attitude of the administration who did everything they could to help get my parent into full-time care back at the nursing home we had nominated. My parent left Armadale Hospital recently and has now settled nicely into full care - and in the same facility as their spouse.
Thank you again.
