"Dedicated to providing state of the art healthcare"

My elderly relative attended the Prince of Wales Hospital Emergency Department (ED) recently due to an acute illness. My relative received exceptional, empathetic care and attention from the ED medical staff, nurses, clerical and support staff.

My relatives' illness was investigated appropriately and to the highest standards and the treatment and care that was delivered was timely, efficient and effective, whereby they were discharged home that evening with much improvement in their health.

In particular, my relative and my family would like to thank the medical staff specialist Dr Mathew who was the Senior Medical Officer who looked after my relative. Emergency Department (ED) staff specialist Dr Matt, in my opinion, is a highly talented and skilled physician with years of emergency medicine experience and, I feel, this was clearly evident in his bedside manner and effective communication and explanation of complex medical issues.

Dr Mathew's consistent feedback and updates on the various investigative tests that he ordered throughout the admission, I feel were reassuring, informative and helpful in alleviating stress and anxiety, as well as providing insight as to what was the cause of the illness. I feel his professionalism and personalised approach towards his patient was very much appreciated and we are extremely grateful to the exceptional care he provided. 

A final note, I would like to acknowledge how well run and professional I believe the Prince of Wales Hospital ED operates. The day that we attended the ED it was an exceptionally busy day with every acute bed occupied, the waiting room full and the ambulance bay full to overflowing. All the staff I saw or dealt with worked so hard under exceptionally stressful and challenging circumstances. In my opinion, they are all wonderful healthcare professionals dedicated to providing state of the art healthcare to patients. Thank you and well done.
