"Not taken seriously"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I went to the hospital as I believe I had possible retained product after a termination. I was sent to have an ultrasound three days later as they said it wasn’t urgent. I had the ultrasound and it showed that I did have retained product.

I was given a script for antibiotics and sent home to see if it would go away itself, as I believe they said the clotting wasn’t too bad. I went home and the next day I had a huge bleed with big clots. I thought that was the end of the bleeding, so didn’t go back in. The next day it happened again but wouldn’t stop, I was losing a lot of blood and clots so I went back to the hospital.

I was rushed in as it seemed contractions had started to try to get everything out. I had an amazing doctor then, who took control and got me stable enough to not need a blood transfusion and get my pain under control.

They explained what was left, had got infected and was forming huge clots. I had another surgery that night to have the rest taken out but I felt that I was still rushed out as I was sent home straight after.

I vomited at home, I’m guessing from the pain medication. In my opinion, I was very lucky to meet the doctor that I did and finally get the help that I needed but was very let down by the people that saw me previously, after seeing my ultrasound and still sending me home to hope it would go away itself.

I got told I would have a follow-up call to make sure everything was ok, all I got was a call to do a survey on how the staff were.
