"Outstanding staff at Sale Hospital"

About: Sale Hospital / Emergency Department Sale Hospital / Surgical Services/Ward

I want to take this opportunity to thank you and all the incredible staff at the Sale Hospital.

I visited the Emergency Department (ED) last month with what I thought was a simple rash on my left hip. When I got to the ED I was basically rushed into a bed and looked at immediately. The only nurse I can remember from the ED was Tania, who was truly incredible, in my opinion. It felt that nothing was too difficult, especially given that I had no idea what was going on.

A doctor named Michael was also with me in the ED and his bedside manner was outstanding and I believe he did his best to explain what was going on given they weren’t all the sure either in the beginning.

Your staff left nothing to chance and explored every possible thought they had as to what was wrong with me, as it clearly was not a simple rash on the skin. I was concerned that my hip replacement was infected and the infection was working its way out to the surface. Dr Michael was concerned there may have been a pocket of pus under the surface. With that, they sent me off for a CT scan where thankfully, they confirmed that neither was the case.

From there, I was admitted to the hospital and sent to the surgical ward. The first nurse I met was a wonderful lady named Dorne who took great care of me, considering it was the last place I wanted to be. One of the other nurses that I can remember was Kate, who was extremely cheeky and a breath of fresh air. Honestly, all the nurses that I saw were incredible and I felt they went far and beyond to ensure I was comfortable at all times.

The lady who served the evening meals was awesome, nothing was too much trouble for her given the workload, that I am sure she has of an evening.

I would also like to make a very special mention of an intern that you have, Jakob. I believe he has one of the best attitudes I have ever seen from a new generation medical doctor in my opinion. His bedside manner was outstanding, his humour certainly was a breath of fresh air and the degree to which he went to help get me home, I can't thank him enough for.

All the staff knew how stressed I was, given that I was so far from home and worried about the business I run and being away from my child. I firmly believe that Jakob has a huge future in the medical field and I feel a lot of the new students and budding medical practitioners could learn a lot from such an incredible young man.

All in all, you should be so very proud of the staff that you have in the Sale Hospital and I would greatly appreciate it if you could thank all the staff on my behalf once again. I always take pride in thanking those who help me but this experience is something that I just have to share with you.

As the Manager, I am extremely lucky to have staff who are dedicated to providing a quality service to our local community and we strive to do our best at all times.

I am glad your experience was a positive one. I agree with you, Jakob has what I consider to be a modern bedside manner and is going to be an excellent role model and fantastic communicator and asset to medicine.
