"Lack of privacy"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a friend),

My friend attended St George Hospital Emergency Department (Public) as referred by a specialist for an infected anorectal condition. During the process of triage, the nurse spoke to my friend with a glass screen in between them and checking their observation via the small opening at the bottom of the screen, including temperature measurement with a tympanic thermometer.

I feel this was quite awkward seemingly in a large hospital, without a room for triage. Also, the nurse asked questions in the presence of everyone else in the ED waiting room.

Dear listenfx64,

Thank you for taking the time to write of your friend's recent experience at St George Hospital. I was disappointed to read of your concerns about lack of privacy your friend experienced on presentation to our Emergency Department.

I can assure you that we take the privacy of our patients very seriously and strive to provide a high level of service.

I would ask your friend to reach out to our Patient Experience Manager, on 9113 2687 to discuss this in greater detail.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Yours sincerely

Rebecca Tyson
