"Maternity experience at Bunbury Regional Hospital"

About: Bunbury Hospital

(as the patient),

I was blown away by the professionalism and care that I received over my 3-day visit.

I felt that the hospital itself was very clean and well kept, and I received a prompt response whenever calling anyone for help.

During my labour, my midwives were Gerome and Claire (who was training). I felt they were caring and compassionate and offered me so much support and reassurance that I could do it.

My doctor who had taken care of me throughout the pregnancy, Amanda, made the time to come and help with the delivery which absolutely made my day - I have great respect for Amanda and felt very privileged that she had made it to the delivery, despite being called very early in the morning.

When we were ready to go home, I was blown away by the visiting midwives program and all of the additional help and support I was offered.

I couldn't have been happier in my opinion, with the way that I was treated in the public health system and thank you to everyone who took such great care of me.

Dear shuddertq74,

From all the team at Bunbury Maternity Unit, thank you for taking the time to post on Patient Opinion.

I am pleased that you had a positive experience with Jerome, Claire and Amanda and I have forwarded your kind words onto the team. I know that they will be extremely humbled by your words and grateful for your lovely comments and thoughts.

We have an amazing team at Bunbury and I am very pleased that they were able to provide you with both the emotional and clinical support that you, your partner and your baby required. I hope you are settling into the home routine - if there is such a thing with a new baby.

We all wish you the best for the journey ahead.

Regards,

Katrina Jones

Thank you so much for your response, Katrina.

It certainly is a wonderful team, full of compassionate and skilled professionals and I felt as if my experience couldn't have been better.

I forgot to mention Angela and the Positive Birthing Classes that my partner and I were privileged enough to attend. As a result, we had a natural, drug-free birth which I doubt I could have achieved without access to the program.

Many thanks.
