Recently, my elderly parent was discharged on a Sunday to come home, after experiencing a dizzy spell at home and spending a few days under observation.
Every time I go into Charlies I always get pretty lost and try to go out the way I've come, a bit like Hansel and Gretel having to leave crumbs to find my way out.
When my parent was ready to leave, with discharge medications and summary, one of the Patient Care Assistants looked at me hesitating about which direction to go, (I would have made my poor parent walk the long way around!) and offered to accompany us down.
Also, I had left my car in the car park and was worried about leaving my parent alone while I went to retrieve it. The Patient Care Assistant showed us the quick way out and then sat chatting with them while I rushed off to get the car. All the way home my parent commented on how great their care had been under the Nurse who looked after them in hospital, and what a nice conversation they had had while waiting for me to pick them up in the car.
It's the little things that really help. Everyone was so caring.
The only thing I would say is it still puzzles me that people have to pay for free to air TV.
